PROSPEROUS AND
EVERYONE?
RESTORE TRUST IN SCIENCE
Public acceptance of scientific opinion has fallen prey to powerful misinformation campaigns
on social media platforms, with junk science
on climate change and vaccines sometimes circulating further than real research.
Until now, understanding of the interplay between social media users and such campaigns has
been limited. The Oxford Martin Programme on Misinformation, Science and Media is working
on evidence-based recommendations to help scientists, journalists and policymakers engage with social media misinformation campaigns, and overcome the problems they present.
ADDRESS INEQUALITY ACROSS THE WORLD
Inequality presents a major threat to long-term growth and prosperity. Technological change, globalisation and weakening redistribution of wealth all have roles to play, but how much each contributes, and how they are related, is still very much under debate. Established in 2016 as part of the Oxford Martin School’s research partnership with Citi, our Programme on Inequality and Prosperity is addressing the urgent need to understand these issues better, with the aim of forming a coherent set of responses to tackle rising inequality and promote inclusive growth.
