More than 200 researchers
From 25 University of Oxford departments
Spanning 100 academic disciplines
The School supports novel and high-risk projects in the belief that the major
challenges of the coming decades combine scientific, technological, social
and cultural elements, and that the research response needs to do the same.
Our research programmes are therefore hugely diverse whilst always being of
the highest academic calibre, drawing together different disciplines, HUMANITY IS tackling issues of global significance, and seeking solutions that
will improve the wellbeing of this and future generations.
The sheer speed of change means that we now have the power to destroy possibilities for future generations. Equally, we have the potential to dramatically improve the wellbeing of people across the planet.
Our founder Dr James Martin’s vision was to invest in pioneering research that would find solutions to the most pressing challenges of the coming decades. This combination of urgency and optimism characterises all our work at the Oxford Martin School.
The School is a world-leading centre of research at the University of Oxford. Our research programmes help translate the academic excellence of the University into real-world solutions, from innovations in science, medicine and technology, through to new thinking on established disciplines such
as economics. We deliver expert advice to governments, global institutions and business.
Working across 30 research programmes
The Oxford Martin School kick- starts new collaborations and spurs fresh thinking, with the aim of finding answers to the most pressing questions we face and radically altering the trajectory of humanity for the better.
